About Cork CIL
Cork Centre
For Independent Living is committed to working towards the
removal of barriers towards inclusion i.e. an inaccessible
physical environment, lack of appropriate transport, housing
and equality legislation.
We work with local and national voluntary and statutory
agencies in order to create awareness of disability issues.
For example with regard good building design, we must ensure
that all people, regardless of ability or disability, can
make full use of the buildings and environments they live
in, work in and visit. A focus on awareness helps eliminate
the barriers (architectural and attitudinal) that are
present in the community and we advocacy (which is the
process of pleading the cause or defending the rights of
another).
