My Home - DVD

Cork City Council (Social Inclusion Unit) together with Cork City Partnership Ltd jointly funded the production of “My Home”, an exploration of housing options for people with disabilities in 2006.

The Cork Centre for Independent Living (CIL) was the driving force in this project. Cork CIL commissioned film makers Framework Films to make this film which essentially demonstrates that there are indeed housing options for people with disabilities.

This film focuses on the positive elements of
independent living, which shows how appropriate
access relative to design needs to be incorporated
into housing developments.

It examines the many features within this context
and shows examples of ramps, bathroom facilities,
kitchen and bedroom design, all of which go hand in hand to making life more accessible for people with disabilities.
